Test Steps - How-to Guide

Overview

The major tasks for managing test steps in easeTest are explained in the table below. To work on a project in easeTest the first step is to navigate to its definition view, as follows:

  • Select the project to open in the test definition view, using one of the following ways:

    • Select Tests in the main navigation bar and select a project from Current Project or Recent Projects.

    • Select Tests > View all projects from the main navigation bar and select a project from the list.

  • You should now see the definition view.

Create a test step

  • Select the desired test case In the definition tree.

  • Select the + icon in the Test Steps section in the issue detail view.

  • Enter a name and the summary of the expected result. A description of the test case may be also be added.

  • Select Add to add the test step.

To create multiple test steps without leaving the Add step dialog, select the option Create another.

Edit a test step

  • Select the desired test case in the definition tree.

  • In the Test Steps section in the issue detail view, locate the entry for the test step you want to edit.

  • Select the edit icon for the test step.

  • Update the desired values and Select Update to save the changes.

Delete a test step

  • Select the desired test case in the definition tree.

  • In the Test Steps section in the issue detail view, locate the entry for the test step you want to delete.

  • Select the delete icon for the test step.

  • Select Delete to confirm that you want to delete the test step.

Change the position of a test step

  • Select the desired test case in the definition tree.

  • In the Test Steps section in the issue detail view, locate the entry for the test step you want to move.

  • There are two ways to change the position:

    • Select the up or down arrows for the test step to change the position accordingly.

    • Grab the test step and drag it to the desired position.

Copy test step

  • Select the desired test case in the definition tree.

  • In the Test Steps section in the issue detail view, locate the entry for the test step you want to copy.

  • Select the copy icon. The copied step is added immediately below the original.

Copy test steps

  • Select the desired test case in the definition tree.

  • In the Test Steps section in the issue detail view, select the link “Copy test steps“.

  • There are two options In the Copy test steps dialog:

    • Copy steps from another issue to this issue: Select the test case with the test steps you want to have copied to this test case.

    • Copy steps from this issue to other issues: Select the test cases to which the test steps in this case should be copied.
